The Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange currently has over 10 million customers and 4,000 employees worldwide. They will be looking to leverage the exposure of this mega event not only to propagate its brand but also to cryptocurrency as a whole.
People who already use Crypto.com and everyone who signs up now will be offered the chance to watch Qatar 2022 World Cup matches and win exclusive merchandise.
“We are thrilled to have a global brand like Crypto.com join us as a sponsor of the exciting and groundbreaking FIFA World Cup in Qatar, ultimately helping to grow our beautiful game globally,” said FIFA Chief Commercial Officer Kay Madati.
The sponsorship deal between Crypto.com and FIFA is not the first time they have ventured into the sports industry. They get the naming rights to the Los Angeles Lakers stadium, which is now called Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center).
The company is also the official cryptocurrency trading and trading platform for the women's and men's professional soccer leagues in Australia. Besides that, they also have partnerships in other sports including ice hockey, motorsports, and MMA.
"We couldn't be more excited to sponsor the FIFA World Cup, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, and to bring Crypto.com to the global stage," said Kris Marszalek. , co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com.
- Crypto.com didn't have a great start to the year as they were hacked and lost $35 million in Ethereum with 483 people's accounts affected in the hack.
If nothing else, their relationship with arguably the biggest, most watched and most celebrated sporting event in sport should help them weather the negative press at the start of the year.
