Then Google named the name that was given to it as a result of a misspelling, as it was intended to give it the name Googol, which expresses a mathematical term meaning “10 to the 100th power” to indicate the magnitude of this engine.

But this name is not limited to the well-known search engine but rather refers to a group of companies that have developed a number of projects from the search engine to self-driving cars and others.

  • The result was a large group of applications and projects that we will mention later in this article.

Google Beginnings

Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University collaborated on a search engine called BackRub, inspired by PageRank.

  • In 1998, Brin and Page left Stanford and founded Google in September 1998.

The search engine achieved instant fame. By the year 2000, it was the largest search engine in the world (globally). In 2001, Google acquired a group of small start-up companies.
